Money struggles can get on top us all, and if ignored they can grow and have a bigger more damaging impact on ourselves and our families.
When all the bills come in at once, then the car starts to play up and then the kids have sport rego due for the next season – it’s something that we all face from time to time.
There are many ways that Dungog Shire Community Centre can assist.
Our focus is on providing dignified, timely, strength building support so that individuals and families can meet their needs and be free of the stress and anguish of not being sure if there will be food on the table each night.
So please call into the community centre and see how one of the many programs we have could assist you.
There are lots of ways we can assist and support you and your family – some of these ways include:
Emergency relief: each Tuesday from 9am to 11am we have staff who can meet with you and provide food vouchers, petrol vouchers, pharmacy vouchers, assistance with water, phone and electricity bills.
Financial counselling: Once a month a financial councillor comes to the community centre providing free assistance with addressing budgeting issues and challenges. This is a great way to help you get back on track, get a handle on your finances and help you achieve your goals.
Fresh food fare: this program is an opportunity for those of us who have a few fruit trees, chooks or a veggie patch to share our oversupply of produce with those who might need a little help. There is an orange fridge in the foyer of the community centre where food can be donated and received.
Chances: This program aims to give every child in the Dungog Shire the chance to participate in sport, music, dance and art. We all know the value of these activates, however sometime to registration, insurance and the equipment or uniform required can be too expensive when things are tight. Chances can assist with rego, fees and equipment, shoes etc.
Community garden: the garden is there for everyone so grad some fresh veggies or salad for tea or some herds to add a bit more flavour, or drop by and do some wedding so that there is lots to share.
