Breanna has been selected in the NSW under-15s to compete in the tournament and will vice-captain the team.
The annual tournament draws the best players from Australia and New Zealand in under-15, under-17 and under-19 age groups.
The competition started on Monday at the Gold Coast in Queensland and will run through to Saturday.
This is Breanna’s first time representing the state, but her selection was justified by recent exceptional results.
The 14-year-old captained her Dungog High School team to a silver medal in the NSW Schools Cup earlier this year.
This success came despite only having a few years experience in the sport.
But playing volleyball at a high level does come with significant costs.
So Breanna’s mum Kellee Garrett wrote to Paterson Rotary Club to tell them about her daughter’s achievements and ask for support.
Paterson Rotary offered the family a $500 donation to help towards Breanna’s expenses.
Fellow Dungog High School student Ryan Maginnity will also compete for NSW this week in the under-19s division.
Both students have sacrificed many weekends to travel to Sydney for practice.
