Bev Irwin, Dungog Rotary Club secretary and president-elect, spearheaded the initiative that has provided six packs of essential items valued at around $50.
Dungog policeman Senior Constable David Hanna said the packs would mean a great deal to people experiencing trauma.
“The sad reality is we will use these, even in a town like Dungog,” Senior Constable Hanna said.
Nina Williams, a Dungog Community Support Worker, praised the initiative.
“Sometimes women leave with what’s on their backs,” Ms Williams said.
