WELL DONE SPENCER
Who stayed up to see Vic and Kath Turrin’s big tall boy Spencer, at Rio? He and his mate, Alex Lloyd ripped it up in the heats, but sadly they didn’t do so well in the finals. Never mind, they did very well to get there at all, and Dungog got several mentions during the commentaries – as did DK Walters, and old Kevin (Dook) Bacon. Dungog must have the best branding in the business. We really should be doing more with it.

WALLAROBBA HALL
Now you all should be made aware, Wallarobba Hall is 80 years old. And we’re having a celebration to mark this momentous occasion. There will be an afternoon tea on September 10 at 3pm. Come along and meet your neighbours, if you’re from Wallarobba, and come anyway if you’re not. Bring a plate of goodies and your friends. Everyone has a great time at Wallarobba Hall.
DUNGOG SHOW
Are we all getting a little bit ready for Dungog Show? Big Doin’s this year. It’s on the second weekend in November, same as always. That is 11/12 of November. They have an amazing attraction this time. There’s this bloke from Queensland, d’y see, and he does the most amazing things with some steers that ride on top of a bus, and – er – look, you’ve gotta be there. OK?
THANKS TZU CHI
The James Theatre hosted the Big Thank You to the Tzu Chi organisation for their enormous support for Dungog during the recovery from the floods. Not many people are aware of the work that the Tzu Chi folk did at that time. The people whom Tzu Chi helped are most certainly aware of them, though. And remarkably, those same Tzu Chi folks have been sewing hundreds of the Boomerang Bags.
HOEDOWN
Now, just a quick word on the Clarencetown Hoedown. It’s on October 22. Bill Chambers will be there. There will be music, and poetry, with a poetry breakfast at the Clarro Hall at 8 o’clock.
See y’soon.
