Dungog Public School and Dungog Community Preschool and Kindergarten students transformed into their favourite book characters for the event and united in a parade around the primary school as their families watched on.
The event celebrated the childrens’ love of books and encouraged them to keep reading.
The junior singing group and the senior girls singing group performed during the celebrations, which were held in conjunction with the school’s Positive Behaviour for Learning assembly.
Book prizes were awarded for best costume to Jay Matheson and Sarah Smith from Preschool, Harry Gardiner and Noah Martin for Kinder, Euan Gardener and LiLy Everett from years 1 and 2, Jayden Berry and Bella Martin from Years 3 and 4, and Gemma Hicks and Elijah Inwood for Year 5 and 6. Teachers Kathy Viner and Robyn Norris were deemed to have the best adult costumes.
