AGOG will showcase films made in France, India, Vanuatu and other parts of the globe on August 26 and 27 to bring a taste of different cultures and perspectives to the James Theatre’s big screen.
Friends of the James Theatre committee member Franziska Dooley said foreign films had a huge following in the region and people were expected to come from as far as Sydney to relish in the experience.
“I love foreign films, I love seeing films you don’t get to see normally in a big cinema,” she said.
“You learn a lot about foreign cultures and certain circumstances and how they approach them differently.”
This year’s line up will see The Belier Family, a French film, kick off the festival at 7pm on August 26.
The rest of the films will be shown on August 27.
Indian film The Crow’s Egg will kick start the schedule at 11am.
The Vanuatu film,Tanna, will screen at 1.30pm and will be followed by Leviathan, a Russian film, at 3.30pm.
Supper behind the screen will be held before the final film, Rams, from Iceland, screens at 7.30pm.
“The first two the films are for the whole family, they will be funny and charming and lovely films,” Ms Dooley said.
“The other films are a bit more special, the Russian film has black humour.”
Tickets are $70 for five films, $15 for a single film and $35 for supper behind the screen.
