The community centre has been supporting, advocating and providing programs to the Dungog Shire community for over 35 years this year. While the range of support and programs has grown and changed over the years the basic premises for the service has never changed, and that is to provide support and assistance to ensure that all living in the Dungog Shire have the resources, support, knowledge and opportunity to support themselves, their family and contribute to their community. DSCC has a wonderful new website so make sure you check it out to find out more about the centre, what we offer and how you can get involved www.dscc.net.au

Here are a number of opportunities for personal development and support in the coming weeks.
The first week of the new financial year is the reminder to us all that we need to get all our receipts, dockets and pieces of paper that have been sitting in the draw or shoe box together ready to lodge our tax return. DSCC offers support with free assistance with lodging your tax return, to help take the stress and confusion out of the end of financial year. So head to our website, money matters section for information and advice on getting your tax return together or call the community centre to get more information or make an appointment.
The community college has been around for just over four years now and has run over 45 courses and workshops in this time with over 250 students taking part. One of the main focuses for the college is to provide local people with high quality qualifications that are relevant to local employment opportunities. This focus has seen over 30 people graduate with diploma qualifications in areas such as aged care, social welfare and counselling many of which are now employed locally using these qualifications. The college is now excited to announce that we will have the Diploma of Child Youth and Family Intervention starting in late July and there's an information session about it at 2pm on Wednesday, July 20. It'll be an informal session, to be held at the community centre, and we'd love people to bring their questions. You can even enroll. So call 49921133 to book for the info session.
Finally it is time to start your training for the Dash N Dawdle, the annual fundraiser for the Dungog Shire Community Centre. It's on August 7 and is a brilliant day of fun and fitness. Go to the Dungog Dash N Dawdle Facebook page for more info and to register.
