Mark Wilson, founder of International Conveyor Products (ICON), said his firm had been the exclusive agent for Chinese belt manufacturer Zhejiang Double Arrow Rubber Co Ltd for the past decade, selling its products under the ICON brand to industry heavyweights including Port Waratah Coal Services, Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton.
“We are now joined at the hip with Double Arrow,” said Mr Wilson, who founded his company 13 years ago as a sole trader and now has a team of 12 which operates ICON’s national warehouse facilities and supply to clients nationally and globally.
Mr Wilson said his company had worked closely with the Chinese company, which is based about 160kms from Shanghai and had an annual production capacity across 41 production lines of 2.4 million square metres of conveyer belting, to assist it to exceed Australian standards and industry requirements.
ICON will adopt the Double Arrow name and remain in its Forbes Street offices.
Mr Wilson said the deal signalled substantial growth for the company and community.
