Organisers said numbers were well up on previous years – registration forms even ran out briefly at one point because of the demand.
Seventy women, 56 men and 80 children – 40 boys and 40 girls – competed at Stroud Showground.
Stroud Brickthrowing Association secretary Judy Pereira said judges still measured throwing distances in feet, instead of metres, and a brick toss of 100 feet or more was considered a particularly good throw.
While no men broke the 100 foot mark, she said a few women competitors did.
“It was a great day – it was spectacular,” Ms Pereira said.
“Participation was way up and there was a wonderful atmosphere.”
