WITH artists as diverse as Sarah Blasko and Mumford and Sons due in town soon, Café Dungog owner Stephen Orr believes the Gentlemen of the Road festival is going to be “a hoot”.

“I’m a massive Sarah Blasko fan and Mumford and Sons have a few good songs. It’s going to be a fantastic event,” Mr Orr said.
“There are so many people visiting from out of town, there are so many Dungog locals who are excited and they’ve got friends coming up to stay with them.” The concert, Mr Orr explained, was “a whisper” around the town for some time. But when the secret was finally revealed, the calibre of the line-up shocked him.
“It just looks incredible,” he said. “I think it will be a fantastic celebration for the town. “The majority of people are coming on Friday nights and will stay for both nights after another concert was announced for the Friday. The whole town is going to have a great party atmosphere.”
As for businesses and how they will cope with the increased demand?
“We’re all just terrified,” an honest Mr Orr said.
“We’re making as many arrangements as we can to have everyone on deck. But like always, there’ll be staff who want to attend these things – I’m going myself.
“It’s going to be a trade-off but hopefully there will be enough catering as well. It’s just going to be so much fun.”
Mr Orr said he didn’t believe a lack of infrastructure over the festival weekend would be a big issue.
“The type of people who are going to be here are just going to be stoked when they see everything the town offers. These are campers, there’ll be teenagers and young people in their 20s. I don’t think infrastructure is going to be an issue.
