More than 10,000 people are expected to converge on the area for the Gentlemen of the Road festival next weekend.
Dungog Shire Council general manager Craig Deasey said council were a little “nervous” about how the town’s infrastructure would cope with the large number of visitors.
“I’ve been here 13 years and this is the biggest event in my time,” Mr Deasey told Fairfax. “It will be a major boost to the local economy, but in saying that there’ll be a number of residents who may be impacted over the weekend.
“There will be a lot of vehicles travelling into the shire looking for parking spaces to attend the showground event. Some of the local businesses are really embracing it and are doing a lot of forward planning.” Mr Deasey said the council would continue to work closely with concert organisers and promoters.
“The biggest challenge we have is the camping ground – it’s maxed out and it was booked out very early,” Mr Deasey said.
Council, he said, also was in the process of working out traffic management plants with emergency services with the town’s roads expected to experience record traffic movements in one day.
