The senior boys team has been the number one ranked team in the region for the last couple of years and it showed when they won their pool and dominated the final to win a gold for the second straight year.

For new players Tom Everett, Harry Byrne, and Harry Boorer it was their first taste of tournament volleyball but you could be forgiven for thinking they were veterans after they slotted in seamlessly to the very experienced side.

The junior boys played outstanding volleyball for a relatively inexperienced side, and after some solid performances in the pool games, ended up making the final against a very strong Hunter Sports High team.

Although outclassed in the end, the Dungog boys can be very proud of their efforts taking home a well-deserved silver medal.

The girls team got off to a scintillating start, dominating Hunter Sports High, winning in straight sets.

They then played Sydney rivals Pittwater and played outstanding volleyball to again win in three straight sets.

The young team then defeated Whitebridge High three sets to nil to make it a clean sweep of the pool.

The team has been working on their transitional play and defensive positioning and it showed throughout out the day where they were never challenged.

The girls took out gold winning the final again in straight sets to go undefeated, not dropping a set and keeping their opponents to less than 20 points in each game.

For many of the boys and girls it has been a busy start to the year as they have recently competed as part of the Hunter Regional teams in the Combined High Schools State championships and as part of the Hunter/Northern Zone team at the under-15 state trials.

To have seven girls and four boys selected for the Hunter team was an outstanding achievement considering we have only being participating for the last three years.
