Coach and forward Nathan Ward said it had been a mixed start to the season and the team “defintiely hasn’t played anywhere near their best footy yet.
“We’ve still got new blokes turning up for training and we’re still signing. It’s going to take a while to click with all our new players and our new way of playing,” he said.

Mr Ward said the team was a mix of older and younger players and there were quite a few new players.
Mr Ward himself is new to the team, coming from Raymond Terrace. He brought with him a back rower and a five-eighth, and a hooker and centre have come from Clarence Town. Some of these players were Dungog juniors.
The team has suffered an early set back with Matt Hinton badly injuring his ankle during a game in mid April, but that incident had also highlighted the appeal of the Dungog Warriors.
“This is a really good club and it’s great to be part of it. They really look after their players – they have rallied about big Matt. They certainly love their footy at Dungog.”
