Film crews have already arrived in town and have begun setting up in readiness to begin on Tuesday in the main street.
Filming will continue until Friday in other areas around the town.
The Secret Daughter stars Jessica Mauboy who has been cast as Billie Carter, a part-time country pub singer whose life changes forever after a chance meeting with wealthy city hotelier Jack Norton, played by acting great Colin Friels.
Bonnie Sveen from Home and Away will play Billie’s best friend Layla.
The feel-good drama will also star Matthew Levett (A Place To Call Home, Devil’s Playground), David Field (Catching Milat, No Activity), Rachel Gordon (Winter, The Moodys, Blue Heelers), Salvatore Coco (The Principal, Catching Milat), Jared Turner (The Almighty Johnsons, The Shannara Chronicles) and outstanding newcomer Jordan Hare.
Supporting cast members include former Miss World Australia Erin Holland, JR Reyne (Neighbours), Libby Asciak (Here Come The Habibs), Johnny Boxer (Fat Pizza vs Housos), Terry Serio (Janet King), WAAPA graduate Harriet Gordon-Anderson, Jeremy Ambrum (Cleverman, Mabo) and Amanda Muggleton (City Homicide, Prisoner).
Seven’s director of network production Brad Lyons said Seven is the home of Australian drama and they are immensely proud to be bringing another great Australian story to the screen.
“Jessica Mauboy is an amazing talent and this is a terrific yarn full of warmth, humour and music and we can’t wait to share it with everyone,” he said.
Tim Olsen said a group of people lobbed up at the dealership a few months ago asking if they could use the back of their property to make a film.
“Unbeknown to me, they had already made four or five visits to town looking around,” he said.
“I don’t know why they have chosen Dungog, but it’s great for the town.
“They arrived late this week and have started setting up for the filming.
“Michael Downes’ Landcruiser ute is going to be used as the police car so they have been working on stickers and lights to make sure they will all fit.
“They are setting up late on Monday, ready to start filming on Tuesday morning.
“I think most of them are staying in town at the motel and the pubs, so locals might see some small-screen actors walking around during the week.”
Filming will begin on Tuesday at Davey and Olsen in the main street as well as Lord Street.
On Wednesday the cameras will be in Abelard Street, Fosterton Road and the Williams River bridge on Stroud Hill Road.
Thursday will see filming in Dowling Street and the Bank Hotel and Friday at the showground, Redman Lane and the top of Chapman Street.
A helicopter will also be filming on Friday.
Filming for the mini-series has already begun in Sydney.
