Upper Hunter Shire Council is seeking residents’ feedback on draft Town Centre Revitalisation Masterplans for Aberdeen, Merriwa, Murrurundi and Scone.

The draft plans aim to create more attractive and vibrant retail destinations with recommendations that include improving landscaping, parking, signage and maps, pedestrian and cycling access, and slowing traffic through kerb blisters and green spaces at the entrances to towns.

Council is encouraging residents to view the plans and provide feedback by May 3.

Residents can give feedback by writing to council, attending a community consultation or completing a short survey.

Merriwa RSL  - 6pm, Monday, April 18

Aberdeen Hall  - 6pm, Tuesday, April 19

Murrurundi Bowling Club - 6pm, Wednesday, April 20

Scone Council Chambers - 6pm, Wednesday, April 27

Presentations on the draft Masterplans will be given at the meetings by council’s manager business and enterprise tourism, Sean Constable.

“The Masterplans are quite extensive and imaginative and council is ready for plenty of debate and discussion,” Mr Constable said.

“Council wants to hear your views. If you can’t make it to the community consultations, have a flick through the report on your own town, to see the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures showing artists impressions of how our main streets could look,” Mr Constable said.

The draft Plans have been created by the design team at Studio GL following community consultation over the last six months, and can now be viewed at council offices, libraries or on council’s website www.upperhunter.nsw.gov.au under ‘Hot Topics’.
