Following in the footsteps of their father Phil, sons Jack, Harry and Cooper have also shown their ability on the two-wheel machines.
The two older boys, Jack, 12 and Harry, 10, have just completed a successful season in the NSW Enduro Sprint Cross Country championships.
Jack has been riding in the championships for the past four years and this season was one point off winning his age-group.
The two older boys competed in 10 rounds of the championships at Bulahdelah, Denman, Kyogle, Dungog and Lithgow during the year.
“Three boys, including Jack, chopped and changed competition leadership over the five weekends away,” Phil said.
“It was very competitive and after the final round, Jack was second overall in the 85cc small wheel, 9 to 12 years. He was one point off winning his age category.
“This was Harry’s first year and he came third in the 65cc class under 13s which is a fantastic effort.
“While Cooper is 18 months of competing in the enduro competition, he rides in the motorcross at Maitland.”
Jack was given a pee wee 50 when he turned three-and-a-half and has been riding ever since.
The well-worn bike has been handed down to both Harry and Cooper, seven, who have also both shown interest in motorbike racing.
“They all competed at motocross before Jack and Harry were old enough to compete in the enduro competition,” Phil said.
“I usually race in the over-35s event but I had a buster earlier in the year so had the rest of the season off.
“The boys are really keen and are continually making new tracks on our place and on dad’s which joins us.
“Cooper can’t wait until he can compete in the enduro - he is really hanging out for it.”
Dungog Motorcycle Club has a large group of members and followers who go to all the races to help each other out and have a great time.
