They overwhelming beat an understrength Woodberry side to the tune of 66-15 running in 12 tries and kicking nine goals.
With Dungog out of semi -final contention and coming off the back of a couple of heavy defeats and Woodberry needing to win to gaureentee a spot in the semis. a close game was anticipated but this never eventuated.
Anyone turning up to Bennett Park for the first time would have thought it was Dungog who were in semi -final contention such was their dominance from the opening whistle.
The writing was on the wall for the visitors with four tries to Dungog inside the first 15 minutes.
Wingers Chris Nevin and Aaron Cottam opened the scoring with a try each before five/eight Mitch Evans broke through to race 50 metres to touch down.
Reserve forward Luke Rits had bareley taken the field before his name was added to the try scorers list and with Lee Nevin converting three of the tries Dungog had raced to a 22-0 lead.
Dungog kept its foot firmly on the pedal for the remainder of the half running in a further five tries.
Cottam and Evans both brought up doubles for the game with Jackson Bell, Scott Robson and big bopper Brad Young also crossing the stripe.
Nevin converted four of the tries to bring up 50 points for the half against Woodberry who managed to cross for a try at the 30 minute mark.
In the second half the Warriors overplayed their hand a few times and the fluency that was evident in their attack in the first 40 minutes seemed to go astray.
As it was, Woodberry crossed for two tries early on before Dungog replied when Scott Robson crossed for his second of the afternoon.
Then came the best try of the game when Lee Nevin fielded a ball 20m out from his own line before taking off on a run where he continually beat Woodberry defenders in a great individual effort to cross adjacent to the sticks.
Obviously worn out from his efforts the kicking duties were handed over to Luke Hughes who some how managed to miss from close range.
Woodberry did manage to narrow the deficit to 47 when they kicked a field goal with 10 to go.
Brad Smith rounded out the try scoring for the day when he crossed for one of his trademark , get out of my way, tries.
Lee Nevin converted to give himself a personal tally of 22 points for the day from a try and nine conversions.
After a season where things didn’t quite go to plan it was a great way to end the year and full marks to captain coach Wes Neilson and the players for their efforts through out the season.
Also thanks to all the sponsors who have contributed throughout the year.
To all the strappers, ball boys, scoreboard attendants, canteen workers, ground officials and anyone else who have contributed this season, the Dungog Warriors would like to pass on their gratitude and thanks for your help this year.
