Whilst he has been riding bikes all his life, he has only been riding competitively for the past 16 years.
“I won’t be giving up riding, just not racing competitively,” he said.
“It all comes down to money and time.
“I have to work as I don’t have the money not to and of course I need the time to put into training.
“There are no problems going to the events on the weekend, but if I don’t put in the training and get fit beforehand, that is when you get injuries.”
Dungog Motorcycle Club hosted the final rounds of the Australian Off Road Championships on August 15 and 16 at Lawlers Creek Road in the Monkerai valley.
Trent, who is the club’s president, said this was the first time they have used Peter and Jo Olsen’s property for this series.
“It was used last year in the very successful Australian four-day endure and we are pleased to be able to use it again,” he said.
“We are really appreciative to the Olsens for letting us use it again.
“Club members spent 10 weeks setting up the tracks but we had to change the format because it was so dusty.
“There were three separate courses which challenged all levels of riders and made for some great racing.”
Trent, who has just turned 50, picked up the Masters Class round wins on both Saturday and Sunday to seal this year’s title aboard his Suzuki RMX450Z.
"It was great to wrap up the title at my home round at Dungog,” he said.
“I wrapped up my first title at my home round five years ago and it felt good to do it again.
“I am now getting ready for the Australian Four Day Enduro being held in Tasmania from October 19 to 24.
“This is the same one which the club hosted at Monkerai last year and I am looking forward to heading down south.
“I have two young riders in our team who are going to Tasmania and I will continue to coach them while still enjoying riding myself.”
Two local businesses, Kearney Electrical and Dungog Tyre Service, continue their sponsorship of Trent’s team.
