Owner Lisa Lambert-Smith was overwhelmed to receive not only the Customer Service Award but the business of the year which was sponsored by the Dungog Chronicle.
She accepted both awards along with staff members Tamara Lye, Zoe Jane Bowden and Sonia Bowden.
Dungog District Chamber of Commerce president Jenny Lewis said the nominations for this year’s awards reflect a broad selection of businesses from within the shire.
“With a record number of more than 200 returned nomination forms resulting in more than 130 nominees it is clear that the community appreciates the value of our local businesses and organisations and enjoys having the opportunity to reward those businesses and individuals by nominating them for an award.
“We hope that the exposure generated for these businesses from the awards helps to create awareness and helps them on their road to success.
“Tonight would not be possible without the wonderful support of all of our sponsors, and in particular, nib health funds.
“As you are aware, following the disastrous storm crisis in April, we postponed this event to allow the community to focus on recovery efforts.
“We are here tonight at the awards due to the generous assistance of nib and their commitment to assisting the Dungog community in the months following the storm.”
The winner of the customer service award will automatically proceed as a finalist to the Hunter Business Chamber Awards.
And the winner of the Business Leader of the Year Award will automatically proceed as a finalist to the Hunter Business Chamber Awards and if successful will have the opportunity represent the region at the NSW Business Awards.
Chairman of the nib Foundation, the charitable arm from nib health fund Keith Lynch was a special guest and announced they were giving $50,000 to the Dungog Shire Community Centre.
“This area has had a lot of hardship over the last two months and we are delighted to be able to give the community centre this money.
“The foundation is keen to work with a locally based organisation that understands the community needs and nib will partner with the community centre for the next 12 months.
“Our grant will complement the state and federal grants announced recently.”
