Over the 10 years I have been involved with this area since buying land and moving here I guess it has been with disappointment but somewhat detachment that I have read of senseless vandalism and crime.

I am detached no longer.
As the entrance to my property has a recessed gateway on a bend I had erected a sign to aid anyone entering.
Many people usually drive past and then have to do a dangerous U-turn on our narrow road.
This sign was removed by persons unknown late last week.
This was a determined and deliberate operation as the sign, resembling an old black and white road sign, was on a hardwood post over two metres high and cemented in to a metre deep hole with two bags of concrete.
I have contributed to the local community since my arrival here both in Dungog and Wallarobba and so feel particularly disappointed with this event.
It had been erected for only a week.
The sign reads Rainy Gully.
Perhaps someone may have seen it dumped somewhere.
It is hardly the sort of item you can put in your back pocket!!
