The morning teas were held in Gresford and Dungog and were a way of showing the organisation’s appreciation for all the work carried out by their dedicated volunteers.
Volunteer coordinator Kim Windebank said volunteers are a vital part of Neighbourcare.
“There are around 150 people who volunteer their time with us and it is really appreciated,” Ms Windebank said.
“We couldn’t do what we do every day of the year if it wasn’t for them.
“Neighbourcare is also grateful to Bernadette Skuse and Tracy Norman from Settlers Arms who provided the morning tea free of charge for all our wonderful volunteers.”
Volunteers assist in providing many of Neighbourcare’s services to the community as drivers assisting in transporting consumers to appointments, shopping, day trips or visiting friends and relatives.
Volunteers assist on buses to day care, shopping centres and social support and daycare outings.
They are vital to Meals on Wheels, either driving their own vehicles or assisting those who drive, to deliver meals to our consumers throughout the district.
Dungog Shire Linen Service also utilises volunteers to assist in delivering this service to those in need.
