It was attended by the senior land services officer Rob Henderson who was able to give lots of information regarding projects and ways to promote Land Care issues.
Anyone who has a keen interest in the Dungog Common and environmental issues would be most welcome to join this group as they formulate the plans for the future that will see weed removal and some revegetation work achieved.
A project under consideration will be the cleaning up and monitoring of the low lying block of land which is part of the common bounded by Burton Street and Common Road.
Our valued environmentalist, Bill Dowling will record what species are present and what weeds are in obvious need of eradication.
Just behind the group pictured is a large African olive which will be a targeted species for removal.
This invasive plant is causing serious issues in some parts of NSW and whilst the Common has some African olive it is, as yet, not a huge problem but we do want to address this species before it takes hold.
Anybody who might be interested in this worthwhile local action group is invited to attend their next meeting at 6:30 pm Tuesday, April 7 at Dungog RSL Club.
