Relay mascot Dougal visited Joey’s Preschool and Early Learning Centre, Dungog Community Preschool, St Joseph’s Primary and Dungog, Clarence Town and Vacy public schools.
Lyn Moseley from the organising committee said staff at the schools organised a range of activities including out-of-uniform days, school walkathon and mini-sports circuit with students also having the opportunity to purchase relay merchandise.
“As well as raising student awareness about the Cancer Council and Relay for Life, more than $600 was raised towards relay.
“Thank you to all the staff, students and parents who supported the events.
“Following success of the school visits the committee plans to continue links with the local schools and hope to involve more schools in the shire in 2016.”
As a thank you to participating schools Sheltons Bus Service donated a 4x3 metre marquee with the winning school being drawn by Guy and Christy Shelton on Saturday afternoon at the relay.
The winner was Dungog Community Preschool.
