Six local primary schools – Booral, Clarence Town, Dungog, Paterson, Stroud/Stroud Road and Vacy – took part in the day long non-competitive event.
NRL development officer Luke Lawrence said there were 26 teams of students from years 3 to 6, a total of 260 kids.
“League tag is a modified version of rugby league but there is no tackling,” he said.
“The rules of the game are the same though,” she said.
“We invited all the local primary schools to come along on the day and the Dungog Junior Rugby League Club ran the canteen.
“Students from Dungog High School helped to referee the games with help from development officers from the Newcastle, Central Coast and the Maitland area.”
