Two motorists were pulled over by Raymond Terrace Highway Patrol officer on Thursday afternoon last week for random breath tests.
Both drivers, one from Dungog and the other from Stroud, tested positive and were taken to Dungog Police Station for further testing.
With a 15 minute legal requirement observation period, the blood alcohol reading of the drivers had both dropped below their 0.05 legal blood alcohol limit.
In both instances these drivers were very lucky, five minutes earlier and they could well have gone low-range.
Motorists need to be mindful of how much alcohol they have consumed and if it is safe for them to drive.
Impatient driver
On Friday last week a 45-year-old man was obviously impatient at the road works near Clarence Town and drove through a stop sign.
The workmen took note of the vehicle and the registration number and police were able to locate the car nearby.
The driver was spoken to and he provided a false name and address.
Once it was established who the man was it was discovered he was disqualified from driving until December 2016.
He was issued with a field attendance notice to attend Dungog Local Court on March 11, charged with driving while disqualified, stating a false name and negative driving.
Domestic violence incident
Police were called to a home in Dungog at 11am on Wednesday where a domestic incident had occurred.
They arrested a 27-year-old man and charged him with numerous offences including assault, intimidation and cruelty to a dog.
He was bail refused and appeared in Maitland Local Court on Thursday.
Following the bail hearing the man is still in custody.
