The pair have been working together for more than a decade and Janjic said the double dressage debut was a reward for years of hard work.
“This will be a first for both of us,” Janjic said.
“There are few Friesians competing at high levels in Australia and Django will be the first Friesian to represent our country.
“It’s been a lot of hard work and long hours, but he has an incredible nature and tries so hard for me.”
Django of Cacharel was born in Queensland in 2000 before moving to NSW six months later.
Dungog-based owners, Lynn and Dick Jenkin, said the stallion and Janjic have progressed through the ranks.
“Jeremy [Janjic] broke in Django and took him to his first competition,” Lynn said.
“Then together they have learned and gone up the ranks to be competing now at Olympic level.”
Lynn reckons the main obstacle between Janjic and Djanco was an unusual third party, but they are now quite the team.
“Django’s first friend was a camel,” Lynn said.
“But now he and Jeremy are inseparable.”
To help fund the trip to New Zealand, which will cost in excess of $20,000, Janjic has created a Go Fund Me account called Team Django.
“In just a few days we have raised more than $3000, but the competition is on March 20 so we have a long way to go,” Janjic said.
“It is very humbling that so many people want to get behind us.”
Django of Cacharel also has a Facebook page with almost 2500 followers.
In the meantime, Janjic will this weekend contest the Dressage With Altitude at Orange.
