The carnival attracts competitors from Maitland, Forster, Laurieton, Taree, Raymond Terrace, Wingham and of course Gloucester.
There were many fantastic individual performances and efforts during the day with the addition of watching our younger swimmers Chloe Boorer, Gary Rumbel, Thomas Taleski-Williams, Grace Turner and Sam Turner compete at a carnival for their first time.
The day turned out to be an extremely succcessful one for the club with swimmers winning 45 individual medals and the club picking up silver in the 10-13years and gold in the over14years. The under-9s relay team finished third in their heat.
Thank you to all the parents who involved themselves with organising and time keeping on the day, and congratulations to all the swimmers as your conduct and sportsmanship on a whole makes us very proud to be associated with you.
St Joseph's school competed in their zone swimming carnival last Tuesday and well done Aaron Fisher who now qualifies for the regional district championships at Lambton pool in the 50m breaststroke. Good Luck Aaron.
Dungog Primary and High schools will compete in their zone carnivals this Friday at Lakeside and Tomaree pools respectively.
Although it may seem a little repetitive, it is impossible not to praise the outstanding achievements of Broc Hunt in the pool.
After establishing five records from six swims at his school carnival, Broc backed up with two records from three swims on Friday night.
He took a staggering 13 seconds off the previous 200m freestyle high school record held by Adam Williams.
Charlie Lovegrove and Sophie Watkins swam beautifully in their 15m events and Wyatt Atkins was very brave in taking the huge step up to finish a fantastic 33m freestyle swim.
The relay team of Jack and Aaron Fisher has hit peak form at the right time of the season.
Last Friday night saw the brothers combine to complete their third straight win to make a late charge on the season pointscore tally.
In closing our club wishes only the best for Josh Long. Sadly Josh competed in his last swimming club race on Friday night.
He moves to Armidale to further his education at university and leaves behind a standard and influence that he passed on to our younger swimmers which will remain in the club forever.
Josh has competed at state level in swimming and has the satisfaction of holding records in all three breaststroke distances with the club.
