And the tennis courts are certainly getting a good workout with more than 20 youngsters up to 16 years of age regularly showing up for coaching on Friday afternoons.
Gresford Tennis Club member Lyndell Osmond said Jeff Eaton from Maitland Tennis Centre has been coaching the youngsters for two years.
“Prior to that Ken and Karen Turnbull volunteered their services as coaches for six or seven years,” Mrs Osmond said.
“Ken organised Jeff to come along and take over the coaching which is proving very popular.”
The club has just paid nearly $12,000 to get the second court resurfaced and they are saving up to get the third one done.
“Eighteen months ago we installed new lights which was $6000,” Mrs Osmond said.
“We are also hoping to get the old courts revamped back to clay ones.
“Club members have done it all themselves through fundraising with the billycart derby and the barbecue at the Gresford Community Markets being the major ones.”
Aside from junior tennis coaching, the club holds a social morning of tennis on Tuesday and that night a social competition is underway.
Coach Jeff Easton said it is a large group of young tennis players for such a small town.
“There are a couple of future stars among the group too,” he said.
