The Dungog Junior Cricket Club met last month at the Dungog RSL Club for their annual general meeting to discuss the future of the club.
The club had been desperately trying to boost involvement in the sport in the local Dungog Shire for some time now.
The meeting was the boiling point as lack of numbers in attendance or interest left the Dungog Junior Cricket Club committee very disheartened.
The result was the decision to discontinue the sport as the club and the lack of interest caused team numbers to dwindle in the district.
The Dungog Shire has produced test match players such as Arthur Morris and Doug Walters and will be sad to see the end of junior cricket.
Representative junior cricket will still available, but the discontinuing of the Dungog Junior Cricket Club means that all age’s youth cricket will no longer be available in Dungog and the local district.
