The days were organised by a local committee, in conjunction with the Hunter Academy of Sport, and were designed to give children aged between five and 15 a taste of 11 different sports.
On Monday the children participated in soccer, tennis, netball, archery and the Ready, Set, Go program.
Tuesday saw the kids back in action for boot camp, golf, rugby league, AFL, Little Athletics and swimming.
Lindy Hunt, from the organising committee, said the days were a huge success.
“They went very smoothly and the kids really enjoyed themselves,” she said.
She said the days were about introducing sport to children, with the idea of reinvigorating existing clubs and enticing new activities to the area.
“It’s about getting kids interested in sport and showing them what’s available,” Ms Hunt said. “It gives them a taste of all different sports - a bit like a come-and-try day.”
It is hoped the gala days will be run at Clarence Town during the next school holidays and at other towns within the shire in subsequent school holidays.
