This game promised so much and the crowd was not disappointed.
In a very spirited match Dungog's all-age Lady Boomerangs started the grand final in fine style with a quick goal to Samantha Simmonds.
Each side had numerous shots at goals before a lucky kick from one of the Valentine players which looked it was going over the goal dropped into the net and made the score 1-all at the half time break.
The second half was similar to the first half with both teams struggling to put the ball in the net to seal the win but to no avail and the full time score remained the same at 1-all.
Laura Trainer had a good game as did Tamzin Tassell and Shellie Reed was reliable as ever along with Rachel and Megan Williams and Sam Simmonds up front.
With the game still locked at 1-all after the full time siren, the teams played an extra 10 minutes each way in extra time but the defence of both sides held tight and there was still no change to the full time score line.
The game was now going to be decided by a penalty shootout to decide the winner and Dungog's golden run during the season came to end at the hands of Valentine, with Valentine winning the penalty shootout four goals to two.
The women can be proud of their achievements throughout the year as they finished minor premiers and grand finalists.
For a team with several juniors, a couple of new players in their first season and some players making a comeback after a few years away from the game, they did remarkably well.
