Principal Pauline Mitchell said art carnival is held every second year with nearly 200 students from Gresford, Vacy, Glen William, Paterson, Broke, Martins Creek, Kirkton Park and Millers Forest public schools.
“This is the fifth one held and it has grown differently from the first which was initially held as a fundraiser,” Mrs Mitchell said.
“Schools are sent an invitation and parents can decide if their child would like to attend.
“It’s a good way to support small schools who don’t have qualified art teachers.
“It’s a visual and performing arts day with different workshop leaders delivering different classes.
“Organised by the teachers, parents’ group and school admin, it’s a great community event.
“It’s a lot of hard work for a small band of people, but extremely successful.”
The children had tutoring in painting with found objects, claymation, pocket rock-it, 3D sculpture, book mates, manga to the max, cluey with clay, drama and improvising, Lego animation and photography.
Money raised from the day goes towards the ongoing literacy program at the school.
Dungog High School students also help run the drama workshop.
