An ambulance spokesman said a bull had been hit by a car travelling towards Dungog.
“The bull had its front leg broken and couldn’t move off the road,” the spokesman said.
“A woman in her 20s was travelling to Clarence Town when she came across the injured bull in the darkness.
“She didn’t see him until the last minute, swerved and hit a tree.
“She would have been travelling at 80km/h and it was just sheer luck as the scenario could have been very different and she could have been seriously injured or even killed.”
Dungog paramedics, police, Clarence Town Rural Fire Service attended and a vet arrived to destroy the bull.
Horse accident
A woman in her 30s sustained fractured ribs after she fell from her horse on Friday night.
The Clarence Town woman aged in her 30s was riding her horse on a rural property when the accident occurred.
She was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
Broken wrists
A woman in her late 60s was walking in a paddock at her Vacy home when she slipped and fell.
An ambulance spokesman said she put both arms out to break the fall.
“In doing so she fractured both wrists,” the spokesman said.
“She was transported to Maitland Hospital by Dungog paramedics.”
No callouts for weekend events
Dungog paramedics were not called to any incidents in the Dungog, Gresford or Monkerai area over the weekend.
The B&S ball was held at Riverwood Downs as well as the Dungog Festival and Gresford Rodeo.
“Given the influx of people to all these events, it was very quiet and no medical attention was needed,” the ambulance spokesman said.
