Over the last few years as a plethora of sports are offered to parents and children interest in the wonderful sport of cricket has waned in our local district at a junior level.
Committee member Duncan Overton said cricket has been an important sport in the social fabric of our town.
“Over the years Dungog has produced several Australian test players namely Arthur Morris and Doug Walters, however new energy and players are needed to keep this classic Australian sport growing in our town,” he said.
“Cricket is offered in many forms these days.
“It’s not an all-day event.
“It encourages teamwork as well as individual performance and can be played in a one-hour or up to three-hour format.
“The competition with Maitland is diverse so all levels are catered for.
“Milo Cricket is where it all starts and provides a fun and exciting learning base for future Saturday competition games.”
Dungog Junior Cricket Club has rescheduled their annual general meeting to 6.30pm on Saturday, September 13 at the Dungog RSL Club.
Parents and players to invited to attend to ensure this sport is available to all our children for generations to come.
