The award was presented to a very shocked Bruce by Teena’s husband Collin.

For over 40 years Teena, alongside Collin, volunteered tirelessly at a club, state, national and international level.

From pit crewing for her husband, to being heavily involved in the running of club events, state rounds and A4DEs and being a pit crew member of the Australian team at ISDEs.

Teena was always smiling and laughing and epitomised the true spirit of a volunteer.

Teena passed away a few months ago and Collin Jennings decided to create the volunteer trophy in her honour.

Teams, officials and riders at the A4DE were asked to nominate people to receive the award and Bruce received 28 of the 30 nominations.

“When I found out about the award’s existence, I nominated two other people, I had no idea that people were nominating me,” he said.

“I certainly didn’t think I would be in the running for an award.

“I was very shocked and really stoked to receive it, it’s a big honour to be in the same category at Teena.

“You don’t volunteer for any other reason than to make it a fantastic event that people enjoy.

“It was a great four-day competition and officials have said they want it to come back to Dungog within five years.

“Stroud, Gloucester and Dungog all benefitted from the event and while some people were sceptical about the bikes, the landowners were blown away at how well it was run.”
