After he trained in India, Dr Singh came to Australia and spent one year in Sydney before moving to Newcastle where he has been working for five years at the Mater Hospital and 12 months at John Hunter.
He has a further 18 months to go in his training which will be spent in two rural areas.
“I looked at Gloucester and Muswellbrook but decided on Dungog as it seemed a nice place,” he said.
“I met the staff here at the practice and they are very friendly so I am pleased I chose Dungog.
“Everyone has been very welcoming to me and I think I am going to enjoy my time here.
“I am required to spend six months here but I think I will stay for 12 months as I really want to get a feel for the patients and build up a rapport with them.
“It gives me a better chance to relate to their problems.”
Dr Singh will work four days a week at the practice and will also be on-call at Dungog Hospital.
He lives with his wife who is studying anesthetics and their two-and-a-half year old son in Newcastle.
