This group was formed in Dungog in 1922 and is now located at Scout Lane, off Lord Street and is housed in the Scout Hall that has been developed by parents and friends, over the years, into a well appointed headquarters and venue for youth activities.
Chairman Charles Watson said Scouting is still the world’s premier youth organisation and in the past
three years has experienced a resurgence in growth.
“Scouting presents programs for boys and girls five and a half to 26 years.
At present 1st Dungog caters for the age groups eight to 11 and 11 to 15 years.”
Mr Watson was re-elected as chairman with Halley Edwards as treasurer and Ron Kennedy as trustee.
Newly appointed as secretary was Campbell McKinna, a serving RAAF officer.
Both Terry Galbraith and Charles Watson gave those in attendance detailed reports on the activities over the past year and what was envisaged and planned for the new year.
The Dungog Evening Branch of the CWA kindly provided afternoon tea.
At this time they took the opportunity to present the group with a sizeable donation towards tent poles and tarpaulins for the Scouts and craft gear for the Cubs.
