Later this week Geoff continues a remarkable journey to again go for gold when he represents Australia in the full-bore rifle shooting competition on the Dundee range near Glasgow.
On Monday the top gun was being given a helping hand from 10-year-old daughter Aleisha in packing equipment for what will be a third Games campaign.
Geoff's triumph in the pairs event at Victoria in Canada in 1994 earned the Bendigo Advertiser Sports Star of the Year award in 1994-95.
At this year's 49th presentation of Sports Star, Geoff was inducted to the Sports Star Hall of Fame.
In its 50-year history, Sports Star, which is proudly supported by Prime 7 and Bendigo Bank has played its part in recognising the stars of today and inspiring those of the future.
Australia's team for Glasgow includes Geoff Grenfell and Glenn O'Shea, both yearly winners of Sports Star.
There's also Sports Star monthly winners Emma Cox, Tim Driesen, Caitlin Thwaites, Peta Mullens and Glenn Warfe who will be aiming to shine on the rifle range, the athletics field, netball court, mountain range, and badminton court in Glasgow.
