The branch opened in 1929 as the Dungog branch of the CWA.
The branch set a state record of 57 members when it was formed on January 23, 1929.
They became very busy with delegates to state conference, hospital visiting and also raising funds.
In April that year they moved and passed to get rest rooms of their own.
The first street stall was in May and rooms were also rented.
The CWA is famous for its cakes starting back in the early days and the branch produced a cake calendar with 365 recipes in their first year.
During World War 11 all members did what they could for the war effort.
In 1948 the branch lobbied to get a high school for Dungog and in 1951 the school was opened. This was considered to be one of the most important things the branch has done.
In 1955 the current rooms were purchased and after the opening were made available for the community.
Over the years the branch has supported financially many causes in the community such as the oncology unit at the Mater Hospital, Dungog Hospital, Lara Aged Care, scout and guides, State Emergency Service, Dungog High School and of course the CWA Association and emergency funds.
The branch celebrated the birthday with lunch for 65 people and cutting a celebratory cake.
CWA members came from Paterson, Gresford, Branxton-Greta, Newcastle, Belmont, Medowie and Muswellbrook to celebrate with the Dungog-Clarence Town branch.
