The generosity of so many businesses, either through monetary or by supplying goods, has been beyond all expectation, and has aided us in providing an event equal to any.
It would be remiss of me not to mention those organisations who provided magnificent refreshments, food, hot drinks and even more food, during each trekking day; our own club’s ladies and men folk, set up in the forest at Frying Pan to supply morning tea, then members of the Bandon Grove School of Arts provided lunch for the drivers of the 81 tractors plus support crew, in their idyllic country hall. Thursday, members of the Eccleston Rural Fire Service provided morning tea and a short time later, lunch was provided at Gresford Showground by members of the Wallarobba Memorial Hall.
Finally Friday’s meals were aptly provided by members of Dungog Girl Guides who served morning tea at Thalaba Baptist Church, then lunch at “Hatfield Park”.
Thank you to you all, your efforts were greatly appreciated with many words spoken of amazement, commending the willing helpers.
I do apologise to the residents of Dungog and surrounds for the inconvenience our tractors created to you on the roads
You remained courteous to the confronting line of tractors encountered, somewhere in the low to mid 80s.
A special mention to the driver of Shelton’s bus on Thursday morning who contended with a large number of tractors on Chichester Dam Road until they turned towards Salisbury.
I do feel for you as you tried to maintain your own timetable.
Finally, to everyone who witnessed the parade on Saturday, I thank you for your attendance.
As a former resident of Dungog, I have never seen a parade quite like it and its success is awarded to you all who dropped what you were doing, to line Dowling Street and form the largest depth of good folk seen.
You were just fabulous with so many continuing to the showground to enjoy a wide variety of displays and view the tractors attempting to move the sled the furthest, with “Sooty” and the steam roller providing great entertainment.
Dungog, with its surrounds, has so much to offer and we only hope our visitors have enjoyed what they have seen over this past week and will want to return to further their experience.
We know there is at least one, who won a weekend accommodation. He is from a great distance from Dungog and chose to keep his prize.
