I regret the incident and understand the frustration and anger Mrs Marilyn Gallagher had towards the service club official manning the entry gate to the showground and to the organisers of the event, the Hunter Valley Vintage Farm Machinery Club.
I was made aware of the incident on late Saturday afternoon of the event and I apologise to Mr and Mrs Gallagher for the anguish and hurt created.
I later spoke with a member of the service club manning the gate, trying to ascertain what had failed.
Our pre-event discussions with the service club were clear.
Disabled parking was available between the kiosk and surrounding area near the disabled toilet block on the showground, other visitors were asked to park outside the grounds of the showground.
As honorary secretary of the Hunter Valley Vintage Machinery Club and on behalf of club members, please accept my sincere apology for a decision made that has smeared the huge success the week’s event has been and caused you both personal inconvenience and hurt.
