Beginning at the top of the ladder is Wendy Grahame who has been made a life member, our very first.
She was born in Cowra, her father and mother were both school teachers and it was not surprising she followed that career path also.
Always interested in drawing and creative activities she enrolled as a mature age student studying art at both Hornsby Technical and Alexander Mackie colleges, achieving her diploma of Art in 1979.
After arriving in the Dungog area, she settled in the beautiful surrounds of Fosterton and set about the enormous task of making mud bricks to build her own home.
Oil is her most preferred painting medium but she still enjoys drawing and has experience in most other mediums and finds all subject matter interesting.
Works of the Australian impressionists feature high on her list of inspiration.
Sharing knowledge, skills and enthusiasm with members of the groups learners tutors, at workshops exhibitions and painting trips.
Wendy has been successful in selling and exhibiting her work however she paints for the love pure joy and challenges of art.
The advice she gives for young artists is to maintain interest and keep trying.
On display at the workshop for this month is a varied collection of small paintings prices are also very small - a nice selection of the members little pieces.
Weekly activities are going strong with drawing Monday nights from 5.30.
Painting day is Tuesday and we hope to go out painting every third Tuesday if it isn’t too hot.
Wednesday morning we try some abstract painting, it’s lots of fun.
March- April should see us at Gloucester Caravan for four days painting.
Yesterday Kim Sim was the tutor f or a small sculptor workshop which was the first one for this year.
A relevant exhibition will be presented in conjunction with the 5th National Tractor Trek to be held here in Dungog from March 18 to 22.
The Archibald exhibition this year is programmed for July as yet a definite date has not been finalised.
We definitely do not want to miss out this year as it is a very pleasant day visiting two galleries with the bus delivering us right to the front door of the exhibitions.
We have lunch at The Rocks. It is an early start but we are then home at a reasonable time.
We would love to have you on board.
