Over the past 12 months not only have the 16 members had their annual Christmas stocking which is their major fundraiser for the year, they have had Mother and Father’s Day stalls, their first barefoot bowls tournament and hosted the regional hospital auxiliaries conference in May.
President Bev Irwin said they have also received donations from the public and $757 from the Dungog Bowling Club bowls marathon also held in May.
“We had two new members join this year – Lyn Lovegrove and Judy Berry – but we could always do with more people,” Mrs Irwin said.
“We meet at 5pm on the second Wednesday of the month at the daycare centre near the hospital and anyone is welcome to join us.
“Our next project is a new bed for the emergency room.
“The old one was unrepairable and a new one will cost $11,500 so we are now working towards that.”
Included in this year’s items were seven macmed mattresses, 10 bedside lockers, two surgeon stools, aluminium shower chairs, over-the-toilet chairs, electric recliner chair, falls alarms and an opthalmoscope.
At their recent annual general meeting, Bev Irwin is continuing on as president with vice-president Ronda Tyne.
Second vice-president is Trish Tull, secretary Sue Campbell, assistant secretary Meri Greig, treasurer Judy Atkins and assistant treasurer Chris Studdert.
