Nineteen swimmers and their parents from Dungog “Dolphins” Swimming Club experienced a fantastic day at the annual Gloucester swimming carnival on Saturday.
Coach Peter Maytom extended his thanks to Shelton’s Bus Service for a very pleasant trip which enabled parents and children to sit back and relax, whilst enjoying a stress free journey to Gloucester.
Clubs from Newcastle, Taree, Port Macquarie, Wingham, Raymond Terrace, Laurieton, Cundletown, Clarence Town and Gloucester competed in individual stroke, medley, relay and open events.
“After a very tiring week of school carnivals and swimming club commitments the standard of swimming from our club members was exceptional,” Mr Maytom said.
“Many swimmers excelled, with a total of just 45 medals being won.
“Highlights of the day were watching our younger members Abigail Pritchard, Daniel Rumbel, Georgia Osmond, Gemma Walters, Liam Kennedy and Joshua Osmond experiencing their initial carnival atmosphere, whilst many of our experienced swimmers recorded personal best times on the day.
“The success of our under 9 and 14 and over relay teams gaining third and first placing respectively was a huge effort.
“The sportsmanship each member showed towards their fellow swimmers and competitors during the carnival was exceptional.
“Thanks to everyone involved for making the day a pleasure, I hope we can all get together and do the same next year.”
