Seven year backstroke record broken

Friday night was first swim meet after holidays which saw Daniel Rumbel break the 10-years-old boy's 66m backstroke record with a time of 56.93 seconds.

This record had been previously held by Liam Norris since 2005.

D-grade swimmers Sophie Pritchard, Gary Rumbel and Andrew Jenkins all knocked seconds from their personal best times.

Swimmers Eve Rumbel and Raffaellu Francisci have moved from D-grade to C-grade to swim 33m freestyle and 33m backstroke for first time.

Clair Ward has been re-graded to B-grade after her 33m freestyle swim while C-grade swimmers Georgia Osmond and Aaron Fisher improved their times in the same event.

A and B grade swimmers Broc Hunt, Liam Kennedy, Pascal Francisci and Oliver Pritchard improved their personal best times competing in 66m freestyle.

Next event was butterfly. Swimming 33m butterfly Jordan and Taylor Long and Jai Darr were re-graded to A-grade and Liam Kennedy re-graded to B-grade after their improved times.

Jack Walters completed 33m butterfly for first time and Jack Fisher showed great improvement in his personal best time in the same swim.

A-grade swimmers Joshua Long and Daniel Rumbel knocked seconds from their times swimming 66m butterfly.

C-grade swimmer Amelia Morris has been re-graded to B-grade after swimming 33m backstroke. Aaron Fisher swam 33m backstroke for the first time while swimmers Oliver Pritchard and Jessica Rumbel improved their times in same event.

B-grade swimmers completed 100m backstroke. Jack Walters and Ben Osmond completed the event for the first time while fellow swimmers Monique Kerr, Ella Kennedy, Taylor Long, Liam Kennedy, Hannah Long, Broc Hunt and Pascal Francisci all showed great improvement in their individual times.

A grade swimmers Daniel Rumbel, Ben Peper, Emma Rumbel, Jordan Long and Jai Darr improved their personal best times while competing in 66m backstroke.

Final event of night was brace relay.

Winners were: heat 1 Toot Sweeties (Clair and Tamer Ward), heat 2 Pretty Pony (Aimee Robinson and Monique Kerr) and heat 3 Wild Boys (Joshua and Jordan Long).

This week’s swims are freestyle, breaststroke and individual medley.
