Two Hilldale brothers will compete in the State swimming carnival in Sydney next week.
Bryce will represent Dungog High School in the CHS carnival on April 6 and Lleyton will represent Vacy Public School at the PSSA carnival on April 7 and 8.
Bryce, 12, will compete in the 50 metre freestyle multi-disability event while Lleyton, 9, will aim for gold in the 50 metre freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke multi-disability events.
The boys have been training with the Hunter Valley Special Olympics swim squad at Kurri Kurri.
Mother Belinda said the boys will be competing in special events coded by disabilities.
“This is the second time Lleyton has been chosen to compete and Bryce is an old hand with this being his third time,” she said.
“Since we have been going to Kurri Kurri on a weekly basis, the boys have gone ahead in leaps and bounds.”
Both boys recently competed at the NSW State short course Special Olympics swim meet at Moruya on February 22.
Lleyton gained first place in four events - 50m freestyle, 25m freestyle and backstroke and the relay team and was second in 25m breaststroke.
Bryce was placed first in the 25m freestyle and 50m freestyle, third in the 25m backstroke and fourth in the relay event.
Both boys had personal best times in all races.
