Cold and wet for swimming club

Friday night was wet and cold but did not stop swimmers from trying the best with a big night of swims at Dungog pool.

The night started with the relay heat from last week.

Winners were heat 1: The Flyers (Ryan Dries and Jack Thompson); heat 2: Lollipop Lickers (Ella Kennedy and Hannah Long), heat 3: Thunder & Lightening (Ellen Maytom and Liam Kennedy), heat 4 Raiders (Steven Muddle and Dave Robinson), heat 5: The Bouncing Bovines are back (Caitlin and Emily Muddle).

D-grade swimmers Jake Edwards and Georgia Osmond improved their 15m freestyle time.

Next event for B and C grade swimmers was 66m breaststroke. Many C-grade swimmers participated in the event for the first time while many B-grade swimmers improved their times knocking seconds off.

A grade swimmers Andrew Muddle, Josh Long, David Muddle, Patrick Long, Emily Muddle and Jack Greentree swimming 33m breaststroke showed improvement in their times.

Next event was 33m butterfly for all grades. C-grade swimmers Broc Hunt, Laura Inwood, Lillian Hooke, Joshua Osmond and Drew Grant swan the event for the first time while swimmers Monique Kerr, Ella Kennedy,Taylor Long, Emma Rumbel, Ben Peper, Alexis Neilson, Aimee Robinson and Patrick Long swimming the same event, all improved their personal times.

Next swim was freestyle. C-grade swimmers Liam Kennedy, Joshua Osmond and Gilbert Hunt knocked seconds from their times while swimming 33m freestyle.

B and A-grade swimmers event was 100m freestyle. Congratulations to Jack Walters for swimming this event for the first time and a great effort by Millie Morris for attempting the event.

Fellow swimmers Jock Thompson, Hannah Inwood, Katherine Atkins and Isobella McDonald all improved their times.

Last event was medley. C-grade swimmers completing half medley 66m, Liam Kennedy completing for the first time while fellow swimmers Lucy Neilson, Jack Thompson, Abigail Pritchard, Ellie Morris, Rebecca Hudson and Jazmin Neilson had improvement in their times.

B-grade swimmers Laura Inwood, Lillian Hooke and Daniel Rumbel completed a full medley (4 x 33m) for the first time.

Fellow A and B grade swimmers Jock Thompson, Emily Muddle, Caitlin Muddle and Jai Darr had improved times in the same event.

Final event for the night was relay heats. Even though the swimmers were tired and cold, the relay is the excitement of the night.

It was the final relay event until last swim meet in championships and the point score was close for a few teams.

The winners for each heat was heat 1: The Super stars (Ellie Morris and Kristy Muddle), heat 2 Thunder and Lightening (Ellen Maytom and Liam Kennedy), heat 3 The Purple KCs (Chelsea Greentree and Kate Thompson) and heat 4 The Losers (Patrick Long and Jock Thompson).

This Friday night see the start of championships. The swims are 66m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 66m butterfly.

Monthly pointscore winners will be announced on Friday night.
