The Dungog Warriors bounced back from there first loss of the season with a 26-14 win over Abermain.
In a game played in heavy conditions it was never pretty and was a grinding affair for the full 80 minutes until eventually Dungog held on to take the points.
Dungog’s first try came after sustained pressure on Abermain’s line resulting in a short side play that allowed Terry Drinkwater to cross.
Abermain were able to hit straight back with a fortunate kick to take the lead at 6-4.
Mitchell Wade scored Dungog’s next with some good footwork that freed the winger up to run 80 metres to score.
It appeared that Dungog was getting the ascendancy and Brad Johnson crossed next to push the score to 14-6.
Congratulations to Brad Johnson who became one of a select few people on record to score 100 tries for the Dungog Warriors.
The Warriors were able to score again before halftime through Kieran Hinton to take a 20-6 halftime lead.
The second half only score one try and the scrappy affair continued, Mark Johnston crossed and Abermain added two tries of their own in the second half to bring the final score of 26-14.
Best for Dungog included Kieran Hinton and Daniel Foot in the forwards and Chris Evans, Jake Clifton and Mark Johnston in the backs.
