Stroud remains undefeated in the Newcastle Hunter Rugby League D-grade competition after a 44-18 thumping of co-leaders West Wallsend at Stroud Showground on Saturday.
This report will be fairly brief, being a second hand account of what unfolded on the day.
But from what I'm told it was the Raiders’ most impressive performance so far this season with all 19 players used contributing to the victory and will cause some selection headaches in the next few weeks as more players become available.
Steve Holland, back in the 13 jersey, picked up two tries, three points off the referee and the players’ player award in a man of the match performance.
All his fellow starting forwards Ken Gorton (two tries also and one opposition knock-out), Jono Hayward, Clint Osborne, Travis Tilse (back from injury) and Luke Miller (demoted to second row) were strong as well and out-muscled the opposition forwards with plenty of help from the interchange bench.
The backs played their part with Mick Reid at half back the pick along with Nathan Hudson and Jim Baker.
Young gun and serial pest, Aaron Waters, who has made a miraculous recovery from what looked liked a serious knee injury, will only get better with more games under his belt.
The Raiders also welcomed back Ryley Mitchell, Shane Hoawerth and Greg Tassell, all will be more than handy over the course of the year.
Stroud 44: Steve Holland 2, Ken Gorton 2, Clint Osborne, Nathan Hudson, Luke Miller, Jarred Tilse tries, Nathan Hudson 6 goals. West Wallsend 18- 3 tries, 3 goals.
Next week Stroud take on neighbors Gloucester Magpies in what promises to be an absolute cracking game and going on previous clashes there won't be too much between the two sides.
So get down to Stroud Showground next Saturday afternoon at 2.30pm and cheer the Stroud boys on.
