 More discipline needed for Cobras

More discipline needed for Cobras

17 Jun, 2009 05:00 AM
The Cobras travelled to Swansea on Sunday looking to get our season back on track and for the first 30minutes it was looking good and then one forced pass which led to a try by Swansea set the scene for the rest of the game.

Clarence Town started the game well making good yards in attack followed up with a good kick and chase game which allowed us to build pressure which resulted in an error from Swansea 20 metres from their own line.

From the scrum Bear ran onto a nice ball from Josh to score, conversion successful and the Cobras led 6-0.

Thinking this was too easy we allowed Swansea to score a soft try which was converted to even the scores at 6 all.

The game travelled from end to end until Clarence Town fed a scrum 70 metres from the oppositions try line 20 minutes into the game and replacement Kieran French outpaced the opposition to score. Clarence Town 10 Swansea 6.

The game was an arm wrestle for the next 10 minutes with Luke Barry, Charlie Watkins and Adrian Martin leading the way for the Cobras until a clearing kick from Swansea resulted in a lost ball from the Cobras.

From the scrum Swansea managed to score through soft defence to level the scores at 10 all. This was the halftime score.

The second half started poorly for Clarence Town with the ball being lost in the first set from the kick off.

This was the pattern for the second half with poor ball control and wrong options allowing Swansea to dominate possession and field position for the entire second half resulting in a 22-10 victory for Swansea and Clarence Town thinking what may have been with a bit of discipline with the ball.

This Saturday at 2.30pm the Cobras play Thornton/Beresfield at Clarence Town.
